Brigit's Bears

I have always loved creating things and enjoy working with textiles and fibers so being a bear maker nicely combines so many of the things which I love.

I started my bear business in 1995 and I have been working at it full time since then with the help of my husband Robbie.

I work from home in my lovely if rather messy and untidy studio which is situated in the back of the garden. Usually I have a dog at my feet for company and I enjoy listening to the radio or books on tape while I work     

I make most of my bears to order where the customer supply their own fur to be reborn, as one or several  bears, destined to become family heirlooms.

Apart from recycled vintage fur I also make the bears from almost any type of old clothing. This could be a wedding dress or an old army uniform as a memory of happy times. I have also made bears for families who have lost loved ones and these bears can provide a lot of comfort and help with the healing process  when they are made from a favorite garment.

Besides teddy bears I make a range of other animals and I also teach bear making and sell my patterns.

 I'm very grateful that there are so many wonderful people in the world who appreciate my creations.
